<p><strong>Position overview:</strong></p>
<p>As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing your skills and enthusiasm to our innovative projects. You&#8217;ll work closely with experienced professionals in the field, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to some of the most exciting developments in engineering. Working across automotive, off-road, motorsport, commercial, amphibious and military through to surgical and agricultural robots, advanced groundwork applications and landing gear the variety is what makes consultancy so exciting and rewarding to work in!</p>
<p>The successful applicant(s) will receive internal training as required and mentoring from the experienced engineering team with the goal of developing them into a highly competent multi-disciplined engineer(s) in areas such as concept design, detailed design, FEA, multi-body analysis, math modelling, project management, time &amp; budget management and customer facing liaison.</p>
<p>A key aspect of the role is demonstrating a ‘first principles’ approach to problem solving and rigour in everything you do, meaning each design or model begins in its simplest possible form, to ensure a thorough understanding develops along with the work.</p>
<p><strong>The role:</strong></p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>
<p>Chassis and Suspension Design: Collaborate on the design and development of cutting-edge chassis and suspension systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.</p>
<p>Vehicle Dynamics Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of vehicle dynamics, utilising software tools to optimse handling, ride comfort, and overall performance.</p>
<p>Client Interaction: Engage with renowned global brands, understanding their requirements and providing technical support to deliver tailor-made solutions.</p>
<p>Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in chassis and suspension engineering, contributing to the continuous improvement of self and our consultancy.</p>
<p><strong>Main function of the role:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Activities include &#8211; First principles design, CAD design, FE Analysis, Detailed design, Multi body modelling, Simulation/Math modelling</li>
<li>Developing and understanding other areas that impact on designs to sufficient level to control suppliers and understand issues (e.g. hydraulics, electronics etc.)</li>
<li>Maintaining documentation and records to exceptionally high standards</li>
<li>Drawings &amp; release &amp; issue control</li>
<li>High quality report writing and presentation preparation and delivery to clients</li>
<li>Customer liaison (from introduction, through quote preparation to project management and continuing relationship beyond project completion)</li>
<li>Liaising with customers &amp; suppliers and maintaining business relationships</li>
<li>Drawings &amp; release &amp; issue control</li>
<li>High quality report writing and presentation preparation and delivery to clients</li>
<li>Customer liaison (from introduction, through quote preparation to project management and continuing relationship beyond project completion)</li>
<li>Liaising with customers &amp; suppliers and maintaining business relationships</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications and skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>High attainment Bachelor&#8217;s or Master&#8217;s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering</li>
<li>Strong understanding of chassis and suspension principles – advantageous</li>
<li>Exposure to and understanding of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., Adams, Simulink) – advantageous</li>
<li>Understanding of first principles calculations to preface, back up &amp; reinforce simulation results (e.g. hand calculations, Excel, Matlab) – advantageous</li>
<li>Understanding of Multi-body analysis (such as MSC ADAMS, Pro Mechanica, SolidWorks Simulation) – advantageous</li>
<li>Understanding of FEA (such as SolidWorks Simulation, Pro Mechanica or others)</li>
<li>Structural, Modal, Kinematic, Compliant analysis capabilities</li>
<li>Engineering design – concepts, prototypes &amp; production ready designs</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges</li>
<li>Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment</li>
<li>Passion for automotive engineering and a desire to contribute to the success of our clients</li>
<li>Self-motivated, rigorous &amp; keen to learn</li>

<p>The successful applicant for this role will be a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience, capable of applying a range of skills and methods to solve challenging engineering problems both independently and as part of a small team.</p>
<p>We value and develop a full breath of capabilities in our Engineers therefore the successful candidate will be capable of turning their hand to both design (from concepts through to component &amp; assembly release) and analytical methods such as Multi Body Dynamics, mathematical modelling and Finite Element Analysis.</p>
<p><strong>The role</strong></p>
<p>As a Mechanical Engineer in our small and agile team, you’ll lead and contribute to projects that demand both creative design and analytical depth, including:</p>
<ul>
<li>System &amp; Component Design using CAD and FEA tools</li>
<li>Multi-body systems analysis, simulation, math modelling</li>
<li>First Principles Engineering — hand calculations, mathematical modelling and simulation to challenge assumptions, validate ideas and develop innovative solutions</li>
<li>Client-Facing Delivery — from concept to presentation, with clear, high-quality reporting &amp; communication</li>
<li>Cross-Sector Innovation — apply your skills across automotive, aerospace and more</li>
<li>Supplier &amp; Project Management — own the technical narrative and programme delivery</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p>
<p>You’re not just a design engineer — you’re a problem solver who questions everything and builds from fundamentals. You bring:</p>
<p>Essential Experience</p>
<ul>
<li>Mechanical design from concept to production</li>
<li>CAD proficiency (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.)</li>
<li>Simulation proficiency (e.g. FEA, MBD, mathematical modelling, etc.)</li>
<li>Confident in hand calculations, pragmatic estimation and analytical validation</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience and understanding of chassis and suspension design principles</li>
<li>Multi-body systems analysis in MSC ADAMS</li>
<li>Simulation and modelling in MATLAB/Simulink</li>
<li>Hands on experience in a testing or development environment</li>
<li>Comfortable with scripting and writing macros in languages such as VBA</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications, competencies and requirements </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree in mechanical engineering (2:1 or above) is preferred, Bachelor’s, Automotive Engineering and Aerospace Engineering will be considered. PhD in an appropriate field will be an advantage</li>
<li>Strong A-levels (or equivalent), especially in Maths and Physics</li>
<li>Competency in communication with colleagues and customers</li>
